Peligrotto is a fairly new town, though many may have sat the same location over the centuries. It sprang up around, of all things, something of a roadside safe house. A group of adventurers would use it during their down-time between their outtings, eventually each starting their own homesteads. Then the area hosted some craftsmen who commonly did work for them. Before too long, travelling markets that would stop to supply those in the area put down roots, and the town grew from there.

Safety has never been a concern for the town, as the adventurers were fiercely protective of the area, even as the years stretched on, their adventures grew infrequent, and they settled into a retirement. Perhaps they were not the most successful of Anikett's heroes, or they would have returned to the cities that drew them in their youth with wealth and opulence. But the townfolk have never worried.

The former adventurers don't have a name for themselves, but are called various things by the townspeople: The Council, the Governors, the Protectors. One name for them which doesn't immediately seem obvious is the Forgotten.

The town is large enough that most needs can be met there. Because of how the town was formed, this is especially true for the needs of adventurers. Skilled blacksmiths, armorers, farriers, and the like, can all be found in the town, often with the ability to fill remarkable requests. It is small enough to need no formal guard. If the Protectors find fault with someone in their town, they are dealt with quickly and severely.
