The Order of Archedal is devoted to the God of Mathematics and Science. Members value logic above all else, and strive for a world of order. Questions of morality are viewed in a different light to Archedal followers, prizing what was agreed to or a harmonious outcome involving compromise over not causing harm. Killing is seen through the lens of weighing taking something of great value from someone, i.e. their life, against what that person is likely to deprive from others. They are often sought out as mediators, judges, and negotiators known for their impartiality and respect for prior agreements. It is not uncommon to find a Knight of Archedal serving as an ambassador, as they are widely respected in negotiation of treaties.

Priories of the order house great libraries, viewed by many to be the finest stores of knowledge of mathematics and the physical and arcane sciences. It is also not uncommon for them to serve as repositories of treaties and laws, as well as legal precedent. Novitiates are expected to spend as much time studying texts as they are studying swordplay and warfare.

Knights Errant of Archedal are knights called by Archedal directly, and have no actual standing within the Order. However, they are commonly given the respect of fellow members of the Order, and may find themselves being aided or judged by such knights.

Tenets of Devotion

These are the core principles of the order, which members must swear to uphold:

Honour: The most important principle among the Order of Archedal is that ones word is ones bond. There is nothing as sacred as a promise, regardless of who made it. A Knight of Archedal will go to great lengths to keep their own word, or force someone else to keep theirs.

Learning: The gathering of knowledge, especially for objective truths, is of great importance for those in the order. Uncovering the mysteries of the universe is of great importance, and curiosity is strong. Knights are likely to carry a small library with them, and write volumes of things learned in their adventures.

Responsibility: The Order of Archedal does not wait for others to act, and press forward to take responsibility when things are contrary to the agreed order. It is not unlikely to find a knight seeking out both parties in a disagreement to hear both sides of a story, and devote themselves to aiding and defending a party they've judged to have been wronged.
