Feldonrock DM Notes

Feldonrock lies at the eastern edge of the dwarven kingdom of Gruunkrag. It's sometimes called the Easter Gate, and indeed there is quite a large gate there dozens metres tall.

It is an important trade city for Gruunkrag, with its proximity to the prosperous nations of Estmuire and the Sestrawood. Though outsiders, and especially non-dwarven outsiders, aren't generally welcome beneath the Gruunkrag Mountains, a city like this makes exceptions for trade caravans and merchants, some industry-specific labourers, and even political envoys.

Populace

Primary races

The populace is made up almost entirely of dwarves. Though more diverse than many localities beneath the Gruunkrag Mountains, Feldonrock is still overwhelmingly dwarven.

Government and rulers

The leader of Feldonrock is known as the Forgekeeper. This is a common title for dwarven leaders of this stature.

Defensive forces

Feldonrock is defended externally by a garrison of Gruunkrag soldiers and internally by the Axewards, a peace keeping force.

Religion

Diverse worship is available in Feldonrock, but often with a dwarven twist. For example, the largest temple is devoted to the goddess Gaellar, but depicts them as an anvil naturally formed of arcalite.

Guilds

The strongest guilds in Feldonrock are for merchants, traders, and shipping, with smaller ones formed for smithing, mining, and brewers.

Establishments

Fortifications

The Gruunkrag military garrison is housed outside the gates of the city, in a stone fort in the mountain's foothills. On the other side of the gate, the Axewards have guard posts and barracks.
